“I don’t think I’ll ever retire, unless they make me.”

Dick Van Dyke needs no introduction. From Mary Poppins to the Dick Van Dyke Show, he has had a storied acting career in both movies and television.

He is currently 95 years old and a working actor. He performs music onstage with his wife and his barbershop quartet.

He remains fit, reporting that he has always watched his diet. He works out daily, focusing on ab crunches, raised leg circles and also sit and reach stretches.

He reports a “tattered short-term memory, but my long-term memory is coming back in technicolor.”

As far as future plans, “I’m looking forward to 100. George Burns made it, and I’m gonna do it too.” He has not yet acted in a Shakespeare production. He would like to play King Lear, and already has the part memorized and ready to go.

Quoting his former boss and hero Carl Reiner, he says “I’m not afraid of death. I’m afraid of the dying.”

So how about you?

Do you have a goal that is bigger than your present situation?

Do you have a daily fitness routine to carry you forward towards you goals?

Do you have a story about working or volunteering past “normal retirement age”? Do you know someone with such a story? I would love to hear it!
